I tangled a hand in his hair, remaining quiet though it genuinely hurt me to know how dire his situation was becoming.
I didn't know what I would do without him....

[Hana]

"You seem like a familiar stranger." I state, pulling a joint from one of my pockets.
"I'm going outside."
I get up and do just that, stepping around Alison and Raider to join Kifer.
He spared me a mere glance as I lit up and inhaled deeply, glad to be free of the depressing atmosphere inside.

I lift my head enough to set my forehead against hers, blinking slowly.
My eyes didn't follow Hana out, simply heard her leave.
"I'm sorry..." I mutter, "So... So sorry."

[Matthew]

I shrug off my jacket and trace my tattoos, mainly the crescent I was suddenly obsessed about.
The feeling of it being tattooed came back and I recall it was an odd sort of birthday present to Silver.
It was a while before I took her to the beach house... My beach house.
A familiar clink shows up in my brain and I put a hand to my chest, getting a ghostly feeling of dog tags.
I knew Silver like the back of my hand, yet nothing seemed to fit.

I traced his jawline with a few fingertips, blinking slowly.
"For what?'" I asked, my eyes sincere. What did he have to apologize for?

"I should have tried harder... Now I feel almost dead," I reply.
I felt responsible for making her feel this way.
"I know I'm being all pessimistic, but it happens when I'm struggling for a miracle."

I gave him a soft kiss in response, hoping I wouldn't break down now, where it would be seen as a weakness.
When I pulled away I wasn't sure if I was calmer or not.
"You'll be fine." I said, surprised my tone was firm and that my voice didn't shake.

I smile into the kiss and run a hand through her hair gently.
My eyes watch her carefully and I rest my hand on the back of her neck.
Her words actually reassured me and I hug her close, just needing her near for now.

I curled up in his arms, letting my eyes close and tracing his throat absently with my fingertips.
I tried to remember when I had last felt so safe...
..and quickly shied away from the memory. My answer was only 20 or so feet away outside the door.
Goddamnit.

I shiver a little at the light touch, but it only caused me to tighten my grip momentarily.
Sleep was threatening to take my energy; however, I was afraid that if I fell asleep, I wouldn't wake back up.
I shift a little and inhale deeply to keep myself awake, rubbing her shoulder.

I could tell he wanted to fall asleep.
"I can see if there's a tavern close by.."

[Kifer]

I passed Hana her joint back and slid back down against the wall, feeling pleasantly relaxed.
"...not bad, that."
She mumbled something incoherent and sat next to me, leaning her head on my shoulder. I didn't care enough to move her.
Everyone was inside worrying and Hana and I were just out here getting stoned...
"Wait...Kifer.."
I glanced at Hana. She was looking at the sky as if she'd found her new purpose in life.
"Kifer your name is like... so... deep..."
She trailed off. I started following her train of thought and felt slightly awed.
"You're damn right it is..holy shit..."

"I'm alright..." I mutters, setting my head against hers.
Despite not wanting too, I couldn't fight what I needed.

[Matthew]

I sigh quietly and push myself to my feet, grabbing my jacket.
Running or escaping would be idiotic... I couldn't leave Silver.
Not now.
I step around the two by the door and wrinkle my nose once I get outside.
That's when I realized I was the odd one.
Two were in bed, two on the floor, two outside... More stoned than Giles Corey. I blink when I think about that. Did I know a Giles Corey...?
I shake my head to dispel the thought before moving away from the stoners to sit up against a different wall, but was still in sight.
Everything was so depressing, yet these two managed to get stoned.
Of all the things to do.

I didn't really want to move, anyways...

I started caring that Hana was on me and blinked, pushing her off. She caught her balance and gave me a hurt look.
"What was that for?"
I shrugged. "I don't like you."
"But I thought we were friends? Your name and all..."
I grunted and averted my gaze to the other end of the street.
Now I was starting to recall why I had previously decided not to get stoned ever again..
I shook my head. The feeling still lingered.
I noticed that Matthew had come outside as well.
"Guess the doctor's office belongs to the lovebirds now.."

I look up at the male when he spoke in my direction.
"I obviously shouldn't be here at all, anyway," I point out, running a hand through my hair.
That was most likely some form of an understatement, but I wouldn't mind if he came back with some sarcastic comment.
At least he'd be honest if he did.
I set my head in my hand and look a random direction for a moment, holding back another sappy sigh.
The memories of Silver had started to make me do that pathetic, lovesick sighing that people did and it was rather aggravating.
Granted, the memories weren't awful... They were pleasant. I just hated the effects of them.

I stood up, brushing myself off.
"I'm gonna go find a bar and soak in booze and women. Since you have absolutely nowhere else to be, want to come?"

I shrug at his first comment.
Saw that one coming.
I was almost surprised at his question, but I wouldn't say no.
"Sounds rather fitting. Alcohol helps to burn memories sometimes," I reply, standing up and tugging my jacket on.

"Precisely why I love booze so much."
I nodded towards the tavern on the far side of town. I frequented the place and was familiar with many of the people there.
It'd been called 'The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse' last time I'd been there, though most just referred to it as Four Horses.
After a few minutes of walking, I shouldered the door open and surveyed the room. Fairly empty today; only a few of the dozen tables were full, and two or three men sat at the bar sipping drinks and seeming oblivious to the scantily clad women that roamed the interior.

"I've only been wandering about for a couple weeks, yet in a split second I have memories from multiple years passed," I comment, shaking my head at myself again.
That would require me drinking myself into a coma... Or something of the sort.
Then again, I knew I couldn't do that to Silver.
I look around the room once we get inside, rather glad it was this empty. I was never a fan of crowds when added to alcohol.
That solution tended to be messy and just irritating when people started fighting for no reason.

I snorted at his comment.
"Drinking yourself into a coma just makes it worse. Rather than peace and quiet, you're just forced to review those memories in an endless cycle."
I sat down at the bar, the bartender already mixing my usual.
"Go ahead and drink as much as you want, though. I have too many chips as it is- it's making my pockets uncomfortably heavy."

I look at him strangely.
Mind reader. The Hell?
I disregard it and take the seat next to him, fiddling with my hands.
"I'll keep it to a decent amount. I can't hurt Silver again..." I mutter, starting to despise the way I was sounding.
"The way she looks at me just hurts. It's driving me insane."

I still forgot how easy it was for me to read people..
For all the things they think, it's usually plan on their face.
"If that's what you think is best. You want to spend the rest of your life worrying about the impacts your choices have on a woman that won't ever notice you, go right ahead."
I took a long drink and eyed one of the whores out of the corner of my eye.
They just got less and less attractive over the years... I'd have to start getting darker rooms.

"She noticed me when I was alive the first time. I was the only one there for her then," I point out.
Now it'd be impossible to be the same with... Whoever that other guy was.
I felt replaced and betrayed, but I knew it wasn't her fault. I was dead.... I died, yet here I am, still confused.
"Who's the guy with her now?" I decide to ask, even if it made me sound territorial.
The lack of names was getting on my nerves because I couldn't keep calling them by their gender.

I nodded.
"Ah, you're one of those guys..."
I leaned back a bit and took another sip of my drink before answering.
"She's with Ben now. He came from one of the towns- er, past towns, it's gone now- close to here. They've got a little girl now."
I figured I'd give him the rest of the little details so he wouldn't have to ask.

Ben. Child. Total dismissal on my part.
"That's a little depressing, then again, I told her something like this would happen," I mutter.
How oddly true that was. I was just being optimistic, not a fortune teller.
"Oh well. She doesn't need me hanging around. No one does," I add, taking a heavy drink of what was in front of me.
She probably forgot about me and moved on.
I sure as Hell fucked that up a bit.

"Well, I'm sure the Slavers would disagree. You wouldn't fetch too bad of a price."
I pushed the empty glass aside and tossed the bartender a few more chips.
"Honestly, though. Don't spend time feeling sorry for yourself. Go out and enjoy the fact that you have a blissfully short life to cram lots of fun and stupid things into." I said, my tone sardonic.
I tugged uselessly at the black lifenet collar on my neck. Damned thing was all but welded onto my skin, so it wasn't life tugging it would do much. I'd cut it off of myself once- bloody mess, and had just made regenerating more painful.

I listen to what he says, doubting the Slaver comment was flattery.
Compliments didn't seem like his sort of thing.
"What do you think of her?"
The question slipped out of my mouth before I caught myself and I wondered why I had asked.
"Just curious," I continue, trying not to be weird about it.
I was merely trying to fill in blanks in my mind, but for some reason that was one of them.

That question seemed like a curveball to me.
Then again, the poor guy had just recently had all the infatuation for this girl of a past life dumped on him in the last hour.
"Silver?"
I shrugged.
"She's alright. Not your average girl, I'll give her that much. Too addled for my taste, though." Because I'll never do that favor for a woman again.
I took a long drink and waited to see if he'd try and hit me for not flattering her enough.
