I decide to stop bugging her about it and pull her down onto the bed instead.
I have to say, the pelts are super comfy...

My tail flips around behind me and I kiss her sternum, working my way up to her collar bone.
Having someone be so near was driving my senses insane and my mind wasn't sure what to do.

I sigh happily, running a hand through her hair and over one of her ears.
My other hand settles on her hip in a slightly possessive manner.

[Midge]

[Mi'Jette]

I pause a moment when I reach her hair, my nose twitching irritably.
"... What do you wash your hair with?"
Awkward way to derail the subject at hand.

This question throws me a bit.
"Uh... soap.."

[Midge]

[Mi'Jette]

I make a bit of a face and shift my jaw.
"... Do you buy it from some shady guy at a discounted price?"

I'm quiet another long moment.
".....yes..."

I groan a little and sit up.
"Well isn't that a bummer," I reply, sighing a bit and rubbing my eyes'
"Your grocer knows about vampires. Sneaky bastard. Probably means your blood is laced with the shit, too... Blast."

"What?" I ask, sitting up some now, too. My tone concerned.

[Midge]

[Mi'Jette]

"You're safe, trust me. Safe from me, that is," I reply, cracking my neck irritably.
"There are ex-hunters in society with normal jobs who know about vampires and do their best to protect society without actually exposing vampires directly. It saves their asses, in a way, unless a pissy vampire goes on a rampaging hunting spree for a plumber."
I growl a bit and shake my head.
"Anyway, your soap, and whatever else you buy from the same guy, is made with vervain, a deadly herb against vampires. If I bit you and ingested any of your blood, I could probably have been paralyzed. At least for a couple hours, depending on the amount I swallowed. Doesn't change the fact that it makes my eyes tingle a little."

I run a hand through my hair, perplexed at how close I'd been living alongside them without actually ever knowing about them.
"Well, shit.."
I inhale sharply as I realize something.
"Saw was the one who insisted I get certain things from that guy. Fucker..."
Clever bastard must have figured out something was up, and just chosen not to tell me about it.
"Son of a bitch."

[Mi'Jette]

"Just proves that he wanted to make sure you were alright," I point out, getting up and sort of tugging on a looser, long-sleeved shirt.
"I'm just... Not a fan of being drugged. Been there done that."
That was not the best of situations and I really didn't want a repeat, especially if she was being watched.
"It's best that you use vervain, keeps vampires out of your head too."

I sigh and start putting my corset on again.
"Alright, I guess.."

[Midge]

[Mi'Jette]

"'Tis a shame, really. Not every day do I meet a good lookin' one," I smirk, not bothering with my corset;
"Granted... I am late for a meeting that I really didn't want to attend. Definitely doesn't mean I'll be dressing up for it like I planned."
I grab her by the waist and kiss her with a bit of force, my tail whipping around my legs.
"Doesn't mean I won't stalk you later though."

I'm prone to agree with her. Sucked..
The kiss catches me off guard again- I really was letting myself slip too much- and I gasp a bit into it before returning it.
I grin lightly and grope her ass.
"I'll keep an ear out. Maybe you can spend a bit of time at my place next time."

[Mi'Jette]

"That'd be nice... Hopefully I won't show up at your house bloodied and dying."
... Because that usually happens to me when I go to my 'meetings'.
"Ehhh anyway, I better go before I get further reprimands for being tardy," I chuckle, kissing her forehead and heading for the door.

I nod, rising as well because I should be getting back to my own home, however lonely it may seem now.
"Don't die." I tell her. "You're the only person worth knowing that I've met in quite a while."

[Midge]

[Mi'Jette]

I pause at her words and a smile comes to my face.
"Don't be worrying about me, deary. I'll get my ass out before the shit storm happens," I chuckle, taking her hand and leading her out.

"He used to say much the same.."
I don't say this out loud, however, just nod and flick my tail.

We get out of the house and I give her a peck on the cheek before vanishing, knowing I was already in deep shit based on the time.
My boots click on the marble staircase up to the porch, nodding at the doorman when he opens the double doors for me.
I hated the house. It's gaudy interior and massive parlor. Such a waste of space in my opinion.
Damn rich people.
"Took you long enough," growls a man from the balcony, "Hurry up, we're waiting."
"Bite me," I retort, already beside him.

I pull on my trench coat now that I'm outside, tugging it taught around myself to ward off the cold. It'd only been, what, two hours? The night was still young.
I look at the stars a moment- barely visible in the city- and begin to make my way home, taking side alleys and other short cuts, comforted by the weight of the revolver under my breast.
My interactions with Mi'jette had me reminiscing more than usual, and I'd have to drink something when I got home to get rid of the dull ache.

I stride into the next massive room, holding a long dining table with several people seated amongst it.
"Dressed as awfully as always I see," one of the women taunt, dabbing at her mouth with a cloth after speaking.
"Still a snarky bitch as always I see," I reply almost immediately, getting a sharp scowl in return, "Hush it, cougar. Not here for you."
My boots were still clicking when I crossed the floor to my chair, flopping down in it with one leg over the arm of it, spotting the earlier figure standing beside my chair to keep an eye on me in case of... Issues.
"I hear you haven't been feeding, Mi'Jette. Is this true?" the head of the table inquires, a smug look on his fat face.
"Technically I am, just not the preferred diet of the fat fucks I'm sitting aro-" My voice is cut off when a hand snaps around my throat and strains my breathing, holding me still against the back of the chair.
"Zip it, or you'll lose your ability to speak," he whispers in her ear.

I find the entrance as easy as always- though it looks like a regular sewer grate to anyone else.
I glance around a second before nudging the manhole cover back, dropping down onto the ladder before pulling the cover back over.
I flare my wings slightly before dropping, my wings making the fall little more than a quiet thud.
The area my boots hit is dry. It's a narrow bridge, crossing over the regular runoff. Which is what this branch of the system is- just runoff.
Saw had been very careful when he'd combed the old blueprints.
I shake my head and turn, the area around me pitch black. I no longer needed light to navigate it, just walked along by memory until I found the heavy oak door.
I pulled the key from my pocket, turned it until the tumblers clicked, and then pushed the door open into the house.
Well, room, I guess. Most of it was just one massive chamber.
Most of it was still lit by softly glowing candles, the hot wax pooled around their bases. Scentless, though I knew once I went in deeper there'd be that faint scent of something that I knew he'd put there but I'd never been able to find. Maybe it was that herb Mi'jette had mentioned, maybe it was something completely different.
Didn't matter much now, anyways, I guess.

"Just shut up... You'll bleed less that way," he adds through his teeth before letting go.
I rub my throat and make an unpleasant face, staring back at the head man again.
"You realize how easy it is to lose control without drinking human blood, yes? How easy it is for us to overpower you?" he asks and I don't say anything, the answers obvious, "Killing the trash of our kind is a great duty to behold, however, we've come across a problem with your deeds. It is said that you murdered Lady Fornra a mere four nights ago. Is this true?"
"I don't see why you even bother to ask. The expressions on your faces tell me you already know I did."
Before I could even squeak, my back slams into the wall above the mantle and I topple to the floor, my shoulder cracking back into place on its own. A boot comes into contact with my jaw and I flip back over, coughing harshly. "Mind your attitude," he snarls, "Because no one will care when you're gone." I practically scream when a stake is driven into my side and ripped back out again, lodged into my thigh. A flurry of curses fly out of my mouth and try to regulate my breathing, knowing the lack of blood intake wasn't healing my wounds as quickly as I would have hoped for.
