I was in no way going to make her elaborate further on that.
Gators were all the same, I knew that much.
They traveled in groups most of the time, but once separate, they had a mind of their own.
"Hmm..." I had to stop and think again. I'd avoid the obvious one for now...
"I was... Six I think. Six or seven. Still unaware of what reality was and what cruelty it held. I had an older brother and parents. Normal family. My brother had gone and started an apprenticeship for becoming a hunter, which my father disliked. Anyway. On the night of his birthday, he didn't come home. We figured he worked late, but then my mother answered the knocking at the door to find his mangled, disfigured body on the doorstep. I'm pretty sure I blacked out from the shock, then woke up to find my house a wreck and my parents gone. I haven't seen them since."
I felt weird talking about such a thing... But she asked.
My jaw shifts a bit before I ask the next question, "What is your worst scar from?"

I rub my jaw, thinking how the stories of people who took this trade never seemed to be good.
Such long shadows we cast..
"My worst scar? Probably just the ones on this wrist." I say, holding up my left one. "From the same game we're partaking in now, except it was necessary for me to get information out of my opponent. He was a lion, considerably bigger than me, and we both were hard on getting details. When he died from cutting too deep, I passed out and my partner was the only reason I didn't die shortly after him."
I still remembered the lecture on how I was dumb to do that and should have let him, but I was still sure that me doing it was the reason the job had been successful.
Going back to a question I'd thought of earlier;
"I don't see any scars on you. How've you stayed unmarked?"

She seemed persistent with this information gaining game... However, if I was an utter ass, she'd be dead.
I shift my weight on my feet and run my fingers along my blade as I listen to her question.
"My metabolism is odd... I heal rather well for someone who gets beat to Hell and back."
... Well that was a shitty response.
Granted, if she wanted more of an answer, I'd just fucking cut my wrist open and she'd get the point.

I tilt my head slightly.
"Really? Do tell more."
First cut of the game, and it wasn't mine. That was new.

[Midge]

[Mi'Jette]

I chuckle and shrug, slashing my wrist open enough that it spatters blood on the concrete by my boots.
"Hard to say. Self-explanatory," I reply, shaking my hand a little and watching the blood seep out of the heavy wound.
Not even a couple moments more and the gash closes up, leaving no scar, just blood that starts to stain my fur.

The brutality with which she slashes her wrist open makes my wings flare a bit- if she hadn't seen them before, she'd see them now.
I continue watching with fascination, my wings slowly refolding along my back.
"..Well." I let out a nervous laugh. "I guess that explains that."

[Mi'Jette]

Her wings caught my attention almost immediately and my ears perked up a bit.
"It's one of those things that are just strange," I shrug, wiping the blood onto my pants.
"... Do you want to try?"
It was a fucked up question, plus I had extended my arm as a sort of invitation.
Her eyes showed more interest than her movements and it's not like she could kill me that easy.

I'm tempted. I actually find myself raising my blade a bit before I shake my head.
"Nah. One time is enough."
I feel a feather drift to the floor.
"I don't think thats accredited to anything normal, though.." I flick my eyes up to meet hers.
"Whats your honest answer?"
Realizing now that she could kill me in this game if she wished.

[Mi'Jette]

I back up and plop down on the barrel again, leaning forward a little to stare at her.
"Do you believe in monsters, Angel?"
My tone held a severely serious tone and I wouldn't take my eyes off of her.
Even if she did know what I was, what could she do? Shoot me? Stab me?
She was probably a good shot, but I'm a stubborn bitch.

I'm taken aback a moment before I realize she's actually serious. And then I lean back a bit.
After a long moment;
"...sure.."
Was my hesitant reply.

[Midge]

[Mi'Jette]

"I'm one of those monsters that children are warned about as a form of a prank by their parents to keep them in at night."
I blink once and tilt my head to the side.
"We're the ones that make those unwanted go missing."
... Might be freaking her out a bit.
"All in all... You chose to follow a vampire out of a pub in the middle of the night."

I take a long moment to process this.
"Well..." I run a hand through my hair. "That's something I didn't expect when I woke up this morning."
I look her over again, slower this time.
I suppose it did make some sort of twisted sense.
"How'd that happen, anyways?"

[Midge]

[Mi'Jette]

"Once I was placed with a foster family who pampered me and spoiled me till I choked, I wanted to find my parents," I start, sitting up a little straighter, "I should have known something wasn't right. I should have listened to my instincts when they told me to leave well alone. I spent a week tailing some guy that frequented a certain bar that's burned down now, but I was sneaky. Stayed in the shadows and moved when need be. He was shady and talked about things like robbing houses and killing wannabe hunters. At my age of eight, I was naive and stuck to what I heard. Next thing I know, there's a pain in my neck, with a voice telling me how much my brother screamed when he was being ripped to shreds by my cousin who went missing around the time I was born."
My gaze glances elsewhere for a moment before returning to her.
"My way of coping was to hunt my own kind... I have yet to find the bastard who I am sure killed my brother and turned my parents into feed bags for his coven."

Well, damn...she had had quite the family life.
I continue staring at her for a few minutes, contemplating and thinking more than anything.
"Seems like a fast paced life to lead." I answer eventually. "So did you start hunting at eight?"
Such a young age...

[Midge]

[Mi'Jette]

"It's a live and learn sort of lifestyle... Just little room for living."
My late partner had said it once before.
"Basically. It was what I felt was necessary after what had happened. I found a mentor and lived with him till I was old enough to go about my own."

[Bemottled]

[Angel]

"Damn." I answer quietly.
I'd completely forgotten about our game. Was pointless now, anyways, I suppose.
"Were you lucky enough to find a good mentor?"
I knew some who didn't deserve to mentor at all. Sadistic bastards...

[Mi'Jette]

"I was, yes. Others would say he was too harsh for a mentor, but he was human."
I shrug a little.
"He knew what I was, yet that was why he was so hard on me. He knew I could take it and use it."
... He understood me more than I did.

[Angel]

I nod.
"Sounds like a good teacher."

[Midge]

[Mi'Jette]

"Indeed he was... I miss the old man, actually. Haven't spoken to him in years."
I shake my head.
"Anyway, I'm sure you've had enough of my depressing life."

I shrug.
"Beats thinking about mine. Ever thought to visit him, though?"

[Mi'Jette]

"I would if I knew where he was specifically. All I know is that he moved over seas some time ago."
It was necessary for him... He himself was becoming hunted for aiding vampires.

[Angel]

I tilt my head slightly. Sure, Hunters made a decent amount, more than decent if they were good. But overseas?
That'd mean starting over completely, which wasn't easy if you didn't know the area. He must've been desperate.
"Sorry to hear..I would have liked to meet him."

[Mi'Jette]

"He would have been impressed that such a pretty one followed me," I smirk teasingly;
"His words were that my ugly mug couldn't attract stray rats even if I begged after drinking them into a coma."
Yeah... My mentor was a fun man.

I laugh out loud at this.
"He must've been half blind. I'm sure you could convince those rats to drown themselves just by batting an eye."

I grin a bit.
"So you totally do like me, eh?"
It was a blunt question, but it was my nature.
